Film Reels from University of Miami and Gables Society

- Professional playback equipment
- Audio and video sync correction
- Output to USB, cloud, or DVD

Coral Gables Media Preservation Challenges
Coral Gables presents unique environmental threats to media preservation:
South Florida's average humidity hovers around 75%, surging above 85% during the wet season from June through October. The City Beautiful's lush tropical canopy traps moisture around homes in the Riviera, Crafts Section, and Golden Triangle neighborhoods. Homes built in Coral Gables' original 1920s Mediterranean Revival style often lack the climate-controlled storage modern media requires.
Hurricane season poses an additional threat. Flooding near the Coral Gables Waterway and storm surge events can destroy entire collections in hours. Photographs, VHS tapes, and film reels stored in garages on Alhambra Circle, Ponce de Leon Boulevard, or in estates near the Biltmore Hotel are at risk every year from June through November.
This isn't a someday project. Every year of delay means more irreplaceable content lost to moisture, mold, and mechanical failure. Your family's memories deserve preservation now.
We built Forever Studios because every family deserves to have their memories preserved the right way, by real people, with real equipment, under one roof. Coral Gables families trust us because we treat their collections the way we'd treat our own.

Frequently Asked Questions: Coral Gables
Coral Gables families often bring in well-kept collections: 8mm and Super 8 film of family life in the 1950s through 1970s, 35mm slides of travel and University of Miami events, VHS tapes from the 1980s and 1990s, and boxes of professional and casual photo prints. The homes here tend to have deep family archives spanning multiple generations.
For in-person drop-off, our Boca Raton studio is about 45 minutes north on I-95. Keep film cans sealed and store them in an air-conditioned car, not the trunk. You can also request our prepaid shipping kit, which includes protective packaging designed for fragile media.
We digitize whatever is on your tapes and reels. We have transferred footage from UM sporting events, graduations, and Coral Gables school plays many times. The content is yours; we simply preserve it in modern digital format at the highest quality the source allows.
Yes. Coral Gables residents often have extensive 35mm slide collections, including architectural photography and international travel. We scan each slide at high resolution, preserving the color and detail that makes these collections so valuable. We handle Kodachrome, Ektachrome, and other film types.
Our digital restoration service can correct color fading, reduce yellowing, and improve contrast on vintage prints. Coral Gables homes often have well-preserved but naturally aged photos. We enhance them digitally while keeping the image faithful to the original.
Yes. Provide us with any information you have about dates, events, or groupings, and we will organize the digital files accordingly. For large multi-decade collections, a folder-by-decade or folder-by-event structure on the USB drive makes finding specific memories much easier.
Drugstore kiosks use consumer-grade scanners and automated processing with no quality control. We use professional equipment, individually inspect and adjust each scan, clean tapes before transfer, and handle fragile or damaged media that a kiosk simply cannot. The quality difference is substantial, and your originals are in expert hands.
