Marco Island's Media Preservation Challenges
Marco Island faces the most extreme environmental threats to media preservation in Southwest Florida:
As a barrier island, Marco is surrounded by saltwater on all sides. The combination of persistent salt air, average humidity exceeding 80%, and tropical storm exposure creates the most hostile storage environment for photographs, film, and magnetic tape in the entire region. Beachfront condos along South Collier Boulevard and Hideaway Beach experience the highest salt concentrations, but no property on the island is immune.
Hurricane Ian in 2022 brought devastating storm surge to Marco Island, with water reaching several feet deep in low-lying neighborhoods. The Jolley Bridge closure trapped residents and their belongings on the island during the worst of the flooding. Countless irreplaceable family media collections were destroyed or severely damaged.
This isn't a someday project. Every year of delay means more irreplaceable content lost to moisture, mold, salt corrosion, and mechanical failure. Your family's memories deserve preservation now.
We built Forever Studios because every family deserves to have their memories preserved the right way, by real people, with real equipment, under one roof. Marco Island families trust us because we treat their collections the way we'd treat our own.
