Visiting Forever Studios Experience.
Welcome to Forever Studios! Ready to Take a Guided Tour of our Headquarters?
If you are located in South Florida, visiting us in Boca Raton is easy enough. But if you live anywhere else in the United States (like most of our customers), and you’re curious what Forever Studios looks like on the inside, here's a little intro into what we're all about! Get ready for your insider look at the people and processes that make Forever Studios tick.
From your customer experience to the process of getting your old analog media digitized, Forever Studios is all about transparency and making the process easy. So we’re excited to show you a little bit of everything we have going on here.
A very welcoming “Living Room” type atmosphere at Forever Studios.
Starting a Project at Forever Studios
Enjoy a cup of coffee or some tea as our helpful and attentive Customer Care team members set up your project. The process is easy and quick; with most simple orders taking about 5-10 minutes. For more complicated projects where our customers need help or have a lot of questions, we can take as much time as they need.
We try our best to replicate this sort of hands-on experience for our national customers, and that’s why we offer extensive consultation to them as well. If you have any questions, our Customer Care team are the ones to ask. We always make sure our customers get to speak to a real person, not a voicemail or AI “helper”.
No matter where you live, you can immediately connect with us via phone, web chat, or in person and have all your questions answered.
Our Customer Care team members, like Yuliia, will guide you through the process of starting a project at Forever Studios - Whether you’re here in person, or on the phone calling from Nebraska.
WHAT MEDIA WOULD YOU LIKE TO HAVE DIGITIZED WITH US?
When starting a project with us, first and foremost, you'll be asked what type of media items you would like digitized (and the quantity of each). A large percentage of our digitizing customers have more than one media type they need to have worked on.
After all, in many cases, our customers have been saving up decades worth of videos, photos, 8mm films and audio cassettes. It makes sense to try to get everything worked on at once.
The process for different media types can vary a little bit. While it’s easy to get a quick count of video tapes or film reels, not everything is so easy to count. For instance, in the case of loose photos, it's always best to give a rough estimate on the lower end (the price will be adjusted later on after they're all scanned). No one wants to have to literally count every photo.
What Kinds of Media Does Forever Studios Digitize?
FS transfers all kinds of media. We like to say that if it’s a piece of physical media from the last 150 years, we can work on it.
Tapes: VHS, VHS-C, Hi-8, Mini DV, Beta, Umatic, DVC Pro, and DV CAM
Photos: Loose photos (up to 8x10), slides & negatives, photos in albums, large photos (between 8x10 & 11x17), and odd format negatives (110, 126, 4"x5" & 2¼x2¼)
Film: Small reels (3" or 4" reels) and large reels (5" to 7" reels) of 8mm, Super 8 & 16mm film
Discs: DVD, CD, Data & Mini Disks
Audio: Audio Cassettes, Microcassettes, 1/4" Reel to Reel, 33, 45 & 78 Records, and Pro format DAT Tapes
Carefully labeling every single media item before they enter production.
CHOOSING BETWEEN FOREVER CLASSIC & FOREVER GOLD
When you digitize any media at Forever Studios, you will find that the quality of our basic transfers are generally better than the big box companies we compete with. Every project here gets individual hands-on attention from our team of experts from start to finish. So if you’re trying to stay on a budget, Classic transfers are just fine. You’re going to get a great product for an awesome price.
But if you're looking for a touch of what modern professional media restoration can do with your old media materials, Forever Gold transfers are right up your alley. One of the benefits of Forever Studios having a staff of real media professionals, is that we’re able to find ways to take the latest professional tools and incorporate them into our media transfer services.
A Forever Studios technician loading 8mm film onto the projector.
Usually, the really amazing modern technology and techniques right at the “tip of the spear” are too time consuming or too expensive to incorporate into a process like retail media transfers. But we are always looking for ways to make it happen, and Forever Gold transfer upgrades are the result of this constant effort to improve our process.
So for tapes, for example, our Gold process can de-interlace footage, expand the color palette of videos to match modern displays, and even increase the video frame rate.
For something like 35mm slides, our latest Gold process can actually identify the exact equipment and film type used and apply color correction based on the known aging factors. Every single media type has its own little suite of goodies, and they’re only available here at FS.
So when you place an order, you'll have the opportunity to choose between Classic & Gold to best suit your needs. If you don’t know which one is right for you, we’ll be happy to help you make the right choice.
Restore and Colorize Vintage Photos at Forever Studios
If you bring in an old photo that you want restored, retouched, or colorized, a Customer Care team member will scan the image right then and there. This means you'll be able to take the original media home with you. Our process for online customers is just as easy, with the ability to upload directly to us, or order a Pro Scanning Kit.
This is a beautiful photo restoration of a young gentleman in front of an ambulance.
Perfecting your Photo Restoration at Forever Studios
The next step in the process of creating a photo restoration project is determining what specific changes you would like made to your photo (i.e., removing blemishes, discoloration, background removal, etc.), or if you would like additional colorization work done on severely faded or black and white photos (if applicable).
For our local customers, this conversation usually happens with their Customer Care representative, who helps identify areas that should be pointed out to the artist. But that doesn’t mean that consultation isn’t available to our national customers. As a matter of fact, national customers can submit their photo for evaluation and have a chat about it in a number of ways.
Head artist Olivia working her magic on 1 of thousands of photos we restore a month.
We have a chat function on our website that offers live chat and live evaluations of photos, and we have an entire inquiry system as well. And, of course, we’re always available via phone and email.
So no matter what, you’ll be able to get all of your questions and concerns handled by our team both before and during the old photo restoration project.

An Insider Look into The Three Main Studios of FS HQ
Part of the in-person experience for our local customers is a complimentary guided tour to get a general feel as to how Forever Studios works behind the scenes. These folks get a chance to see our Digitizing and Creative studios up close and personal, and interact with the staff here (The Restoration Studio is the only thing not on site here at our Boca HQ, as many of the artists work remotely).
This is an experience we wish we could offer to our online customers too, and this article is just the beginning when it comes to finding ways to invite all of you into our home. So follow along with us for now, and keep your eyes peeled in the future for way more content from inside FS.
This is a great view of the Digitizing Studio. You can see where photos, tapes, audio, and film media formats are transferred to digital.
One of the great opportunities of getting a guided tour, besides having more questions answered, is seeing what we can handle. There have been numerous times when customers have come in and realized that every last bit of their old, forgotten media from back in the day could be digitized at Forever Studios and brought into the 21st century, not just tapes or photos.
This is our Design & Print Studio, also referred to as the Creative Studio. We’re able to make almost anything here, with every high-end machine you can think of.
YOUR MEDIA IS IN GOOD HANDS WITH OUR ADMIN & INTAKE DEPARTMENT
Once a project has been set up and paid for here at Forever Studios, your media moves to admin and intake. We have a pretty robust quality control process for media coming in and leaving the studio, that includes making sure every last item is tracked by our extensive Project Management system.
We take inventory management very seriously. Every single item, whether it's brought in or mailed in, is reviewed by two people before it's released to technicians. If there are any discrepancies, we contact the customer right away to be transparent and avoid any issues later on.
During the inventory process, our team members put a little sticker on the media. The unique number printed on the sticker is trackable in our project management software.
Our inventory control process ensures that every single piece of media is tagged and trackable by both our team internally, and our customers. Each item gets a unique number that is specific to the project and customer, and every project is kept together in one container with all attached notes. So any time your media is on the move from one department to another, or someone starts performing new work on it, you’ll be notified.
Meet Stan: Our Project Manager & Customer Care Wizard
Stan, the Forever Studios Project manager.
Let me introduce Stan, our Project Manager. He assists customers, handles escalated support, ensures projects get done on time, and is the go-between between the customers and our media teams. Basically, he’s an administrative superstar, and if you ever need detailed answers about a project, he’s going to be the man you’re talking to.
THE MOST COMMON QUESTIONS FOR OUR PROJECT MANAGER
When I asked Stan what the most common question he gets is, he said, "What makes us [Forever Studios] different?"
Stan intaking a film reel. We take a real close look at every item coming through intake to make sure the production team knows if anything requires some special attention.
This was his answer (and I don't think I could've said it any better):
"We have a much smaller and more specialized team than our competitors, so I get to work with my technicians directly. The benefit of having such an intimate operation is that our team is hands-on with everything, and they get to know customers and their projects personally.
FS is unique in having specialized technicians who handle film, audio, video, and photos, allowing each part of the project to be done by an expert in that field."
How Does FS Ensure Quality Control?
The same process during intake is implemented when the project is complete. Any and all media is QC'd (quality controlled) by two people to ensure that the transfer results are up to our high standards.

After the transfer/restoration is complete and quality of the project confirmed, it goes to our shipping department or the local pickup area. Depending on your preferences (and your location), we can send the original media and the deliverables via the mail or deliver it in person.

Meet Emilio: Our Head Engineer, and Master Problem Solver
Emilio is our go-to guy for complex problems and genius solutions. There isn’t a single part of what we do here at FS that he hasn’t had some sort of involvement in. Most recently, he helped with our remodel of the Creative Studio, as well as the system that FS uses to capture tapes straight to MP4 files, which saves a ton of production time.
He oversees the technical aspects of every single department within the Digitizing Studio that we’re about to take a look at. And if you ever wonder who thank for Forever Studios consistently excellent results, he’s your man.
Emilio pretty much improves everything at Forever Studios.
When asked about what he thinks makes the Digitizing Studio special, Emilio immediately had an answer for us:
“So, I think that we do a really good job at making sure each different part of the Digitizing Studio gets the same amount of attention and care. I don’t want to focus on just tapes, for instance, and not give the same amount of work to photo scanning or film.
It’s difficult to make sure that we consistently do excellent work everywhere, all the time, but I love knowing that we’re able to do it, and that people notice.”
A Look Into Photo Scanning Projects at Forever Studios
When you have your photos worked on here at FS, our Media Transfer specialists meticulously clean each photo, wiping off dust particles and fingerprints with microfiber cloth before loading them into professional-grade scanners.
We actually have a specific process for each type of photo we encounter here, depending on the size, whether or not it’s in an album, or if it’s something unique that requires a special type of scanning. This helps a great deal in providing consistently good results.
We try to allot as much individual attention to each photo as we possibly can. Absolutely nothing here is done without oversight by one of our Media Pros, and that includes even basic photo scanning.
For instance, in the case of large photos or photos with glue, Velcro backings, or some other unremovable material, Forever Studios technicians use top-of-the-line flatbed scanners. Then we use digital tools to crop out the photo and prepare it for delivery.
We also make sure to handle each and every photo with extreme care, because we know they’re irreplaceable, and in some cases, really fragile. So our photo technicians always use felt gloves, and make sure to not handle any photo in a way that might damage it.
The fact that we work with a bunch of professional historical organizations that demand this quality of work means that it’s easy for our team to provide the same level of care to our everyday customers. It’s just what they’re used to.
Jacobi of the Digitizing Studio is using a PlusTek flatbed to get high quality scans of some 4x6 photos.
Taking a Walk Through Our Tape Transfer Department
Our tape team usually begins their work around 6:00 am by staging the upcoming tape projects for the day so that production is streamlined. Tape projects are prioritized based on their due dates, and what kind of tapes are in the project.
Because we have the capability of transferring any kind of tape on each of our stations, this staging process is necessary to make sure we optimize the use of our capture rigs.
The Tape Department has 34+ stations stocked with JVC VCRs and high-8/mini DV capture devices.
Once it’s time to begin capturing, our process requires our technicians to assess, clean (if needed), and rewind each tape before transfer. We always attempt to get the best capture we can, and try to reject a tape in only the most extreme cases. If repairs are necessary, they’re sent over to our repair squad.
Technicians keep the process running and the output super consistent by periodically cleaning the equipment and evaluating the transferred media for any tracking issues.
Here’s a close-up of one of our capture rigs in action. These things are a great combo of old-school and new school tech.
Our equipment utilizes open broadcast software (more commonly known as OBS), which some of you may recognize as a popular software for online streaming, to capture and transfer data.
We’ve managed to uniquely repurpose this software into our tape capture process. While VHS tape digitizing may seem like a simple process, a lot could go wrong without properly trained technicians, and the original tape could be damaged. It all requires a special touch for great results.
Keith here can make adjustments in real-time to affect the process, and it is very much not a “set it and forget it” thing.
Here’s a quote from Keith, one of our top “tape guys” that really showcases dedication to his craft:
“We make sure that whatever we transfer for the customer is the absolute best. If I see there’s a problem in the capture, and there are a lot of lines going through the image, I’m gonna stop it, rewind the tape, and re-clean the machine. If that doesn’t change anything, I’ll transfer the tape to two or three other machines to see if there is any difference and to ensure that the original media format is compatible with the VCR.”
VCR tapes get damaged really easily from water/humidity, sunlight, mold, and dust. That’s why tapes are rewound in separate VCR machines from the capture ones. The tops of the capture units are kept open to allow FS staff to clean the machine heads in between transfers.
Once a tape transfer project is completed, it moves onto a separate part of the Tape Department to prep the files on your end-product of choice, whether that’s a physical device like a USB drive, or our Forever Cloud service. But we’ll get to that part later!
Working With Classic Audio Media Items in The Audio Department
Utilizing old-school tech and new software, Forever Studios’ technicians capture, digitize, and enhance audio from almost every popular audio media format there ever was (cassettes, vinyl, 8-track, mini disc, you name it).
Just like with videotape captures, audio projects require playing back the original audio materials to get a capture of the media. And that means we need to not only have a lot of classic audio gear, but staff who know how to operate and maintain it as well. In some ways, audio transfers require the most expertise of any of the media work we do.
Yep, that's a classic Akai reel to reel audio deck.
The classic audio gear is paired with modern PCs which actually run the capture software and create the digital files as the materials are played into them. This is a very similar process to performing video tape captures, but the fact is that it requires a totally different skill set because of the differences between video and audio.
HOW AUDIO MASTERING AFFECTS THE FINAL PRODUCT
For our Forever Gold projects, techs complete minor restorations to the waveform using top-of-the-line software. These changes may include noise/imperfection removal (like annoying clicks), EQing and dynamics, cutting the tails off, etc.
Once all the technical magic is done, the result is a cleaner audio file on par with something one would find on YouTube or Spotify. This mastering step can be the difference between that sounds identical to the original, versus something that’s significantly better.
This is a reel-to-reel machine that reads the magnetic tape on an audio reel. Some reels had 4 tracks (when a typical one only had two). In the ’60s, people would set up four speakers and play a quadraphonic sound, an early concept of surround sound.
Our in-house audio engineer Lucas takes a great deal of pride in his ability to make some of these pro mastering techniques available to our audio transfer customers:
“Every project and restoration is different. One job may have loudness issues. One job may need to be equalized. One job may just be really noisy. You never know. Sometimes you have to go in with some powerful AI tools or conduct manual surgery to the audio file.”
An 8-track 70s-style cassette player (above) and an 8-track cassette (below). People used to have these things in their cars. And the cassettes fit in kind of like a piece of toast in a toaster oven.
Making Old Film into New Family Memories
One of the coolest processes at the Digitizing Studio is definitely our 8mm & 16mm film transfer process. Why is that the case you may ask? Well, it’s largely because the equipment is really cool, the process is fascinating, and the results are something people really cherish.
Because film is truly analogue and doesn’t have a set resolution the way other pieces of visual media do, it’s possible to capture it directly to a modern High Definition format. And that’s exactly what we do.
Forever Studios captures 8mm film direct to 4k cameras.
As far as we know, no one offers quite the same film process that we do. Our system involves playback of the original film through a high end projector that’s been modified for our specific needs.
The original bulbs are replaced with a modern LED, and the lens is replaced with a custom aperture that feeds the image directly into the camera sensor of a high definition camera. With Forever Gold, we even add a post-processing step to correct color accurately. The final result is just amazing.
But the best part might be the fact that our film technicians are overseeing the project from start to finish. They’re always there to make sure that your film is being transferred to the best of our ability.
Meet David: The Most Veteran Technician of The Digitizing Studio
David’s been with FS for over 5 years and has worked in almost every department at one point or another. At present, he spends most of his time preparing the end products for our customer projects and performing the first quality check step once a project is done being transferred.
When our Digitizing Studio is finished with a project, it goes to David for pre-QC. He then turns the finished project into whatever end-product the client chose (i.e., a USB drive, a digital download, a disc, etc.).
David lives and breathes quality work. His standards are the guideline we all work off of.
WHAT IS THE QC PROCESS WITH DAVID?
David ensures the final files are of the quality the client expects, and he double-checks that the quantity of digital files matches the amount of media we received at the beginning of the project. He also tests the USB or disc deliverable to make absolutely sure it’s fully operational (because tech is funny like that).
Forever Studios use high grade Bamboo USB 3.0 Flash Drives and Cases.
David is step one of QC, and Stan goes through everything a final time to double-check for quality control.
WHICH END-PRODUCT SHOULD YOU CHOOSE ACCORDING TO DAVID?
“Forever Cloud! The customer can have access to the file and choose what they want to do with it. They can turn it into a flash drive if they have their own. CDs are going to eventually become part of the past. They break and scratch. The USB is good, but it’s only as good as how you store it. Forever Cloud with the subscription is always there.”
Explore Custom Printing & Framing at The Creative Studio
Niki: Her favorite paper to print pictures is Polar Matte. She creates beautiful frames and oversees the printing of photo restorations.
The Creative Studio at Forever Studios is the newest of our three main studios, and is home to a lot of cool products that are only going to get more exciting in the future.
Currently we’re able to produce all sorts of great prints, framed prints and artwork from scratch here. But stay tuned as we intend to roll out all sorts of really interesting custom products for folks looking to enjoy their favorite moments throughout their personal history.
We’re proud to create everything we sell right here at our HQ in Boca Raton, FL. That includes products on all sorts of materials like Lucite glass, Chromalux aluminum panel, canvas, and more.
This is a Semi-Auto/Pneumatic Underpinner. It puts the frames together using specially designed nails that fit into the corner joints.
THE JOYS OF CUSTOM FRAMING & ART PRODUCTION
Custom framing of prints and artwork requires A LOT of work from people who have exceptional amounts of training. There’s a lot of precision cutting, fitment, and joining that needs to be done just right for the finished product to look good. It’s very meticulous work, and it also involves the use of a lot of specialized machinery as well.
This handy machine is the Valiani, it precisely cuts mat boards and other paper products. It’s critical for making a lot of the more complicated products here at FS.
Something like this Valiani mat cutter isn’t typical at most printing shops, but we decided to invest in it specifically because we wanted to be able to make more unique products. While our current offerings are similar to what you might find with other online retailers, we’re super excited to roll out some really special stuff in the latter half of 2025.
Gwyn here is working with some mat board which has already been cut for use in a framing product. A lot of the materials and processes used in our print products are meticulous and finicky.
A LITTLE LESSON ABOUT ACRYLIC PRINTING
One of our most popular lines of products are our Lucite acrylic pieces, such as our Infinity Glass Print. Acrylic has to be printed back facing front, so the image is reversed. The process is very meticulous.
The acrylic has to be placed in exactly the right spot because the background gets filled with white ink (a goopy, messy medium). If the placement is off even remotely, the project could end up like the following example, which was part of a huge professional job for the Forbes Real Estate Agency.
This was the only necessary reprint in a project that contained 180 acrylic prints for one of our professional clients.
YOU CAN PRINT JUST ABOUT ANYTHING WITH A UV PRINTER
Our UV printer of choice here at Forever Studios is the Canon Arizona, and let me tell you, this thing is incredible. If you’re not familiar with UV (or ultraviolet) printing, here’s a brief rundown of how it works:
The materials you want to print on are laid on the bed, and secured down if need be. The bed also has a vacuum function built in to make absolutely sure that everything lays totally flat.
Have you ever wondered how companies get large banners printed? With one of these: a giant flatbed UV printer.
The printer bed itself is about 6 by 8 feet, and because of how the printing is done, that’s also the maximum size print that can be done. Also, the materials you can use with a UV printer are really only limited by your imagination. Glass, plastic, paper, canvas - it doesn’t really matter at all!
The gantry arm of the printer is what deposits the UV reactive ink on the materials. It’s controlled by a PC which is programmed by the operator with the imagery that needs to be printed. It quickly runs back and forth over the printed surface depositing the ink, and also curing it with a powerful UV light.
Mix this awesome UV printer with the other high tech machinery here at Forever Studios’ Creative Studio, and that’s how we’re able to make nearly anything from your favorite memories.
Gwyn really loves anything to do with printing.
Gwyn is our main man when it comes to printing, and this is his take on working in the Creative Studio:
"Working here at FS, I always know that I'm never going to get bored. I get to learn and operate cool machines to make stuff, which is fun. At Forever Studios, there are always things to do and new ways to do them. We never do anything exactly the same way twice. It's like a million different puzzles, and there is a new one every day."
Our Graphic Designer & Favorite In-House Artist: Kateryna
Kateryna is our in-house designer at Forever Studios, and she is nothing short of an amazing talent. She manages to not only help us develop all of our cool product offerings coming out of the Creative Studio; she’s also an ultra talented web designer as well. Make no mistake, going back and forth between artistic and technical work can be difficult, but she more than makes it work.
“A lot of new products are coming, and we can’t wait to see what people think of them. Our hopes are pretty high that people will like them.”
She is originally from Ukraine, and we’re happy to have her as part of our team while she is staying here in the United States. One of her most important projects at this time is rolling out her own personal collection of products that she designed to help people showcase their favorite photos with historical context. Her signature product launch will be coming soon.
WHAT MAKES A GOOD WEBSITE FOR FOREVER STUDIOS CUSTOMERS?
If you ask Kateryna about web design, she’ll tell you it all comes down to user friendliness:
“A simple and clear website so people can easily start a project. It's all about customer experience and satisfaction. If a customer has any issues with uploading a photo or starting a project, they can always give us a call or talk to us via web chat.”
Talking with Greg: the General Manager at Forever Studios
Greg oversees every single part of the company's operations. He ensures each project meets the high-quality standards that our customers expect and that every piece of media that comes into our studio is treated with respect.
Greg - always thinking of new ways to market our company to the entire USA.
"The goal for me and the company is to make sure that we're able to provide these services for as many people as we possibly can, and to make it accessible and easy for people who are less technologically inclined.
I would like to establish this company as the number one premium provider of such services nationwide, and I think we stand a very good chance of that. We'll continue to work hard at it until we achieve that goal."
WHAT SETS FS APART FROM COMPETITORS?
Greg is known for being ultra-passionate about making Forever Studios the best company it can be, and is always thinking of new ways to do better than our competitors in the industry, whether that’s in product quality or customer service. But when asked what makes Forever Studios special, this was his response:
“Forever Studios is accessible. It’s this accessibility to experts that really sets us apart. FS, from its beginning as a small company helping local families and other local companies in South Florida, has always been known for providing information and help when people need it.
Greg on the floor working with David in our Digitizing Studio.
As our company has expanded into the national space, that experience has remained the same, regardless of where our clients are. Unlike our competitors, at pretty much any point in time, you can call or email us and speak to a knowledgeable, helpful, real person. Not an AI bot.”
WORKING ON PROJECTS FOR FOREVER STUDIOS’ PRO CLIENTS:
Greg also works directly alongside Zachary, our owner, on our professional accounts. Forever Studios is pretty well known in the industry for working with historical societies, museums, and Nonprofits. One of our oldest clients is the Delray Beach Historical Society.
“We print their exhibits, digitize and archive their media, and restore their photos. We even set up a platform so that they can sell prints of their photo archives. That working relationship has set the benchmark for how we engage with all our projects and clients.”
A display we printed for Delray Beach Historical Society.
“Another noteworthy client is Women of Tomorrow, an organization that builds scholarships and creates opportunities for talented, underprivileged women who just need a little bit of extra help to make a difference in their lives to let them live up to their full potential.”
FS helped digitize their entire history of physical media formats that were inaccessible and created a fully searchable, indexed archive for their unorganized digital files. Now, they can promote their years of activism and showcase all the women who they helped.
Asking Zachary Goldberg what Makes Forever Studios A Company Worth Supporting.
According to him, it all comes down to respect.
“We're always trying to be respectful of people’s stories, and understand that we’re acting as stewards of them. Forever Studios isn't just looking to make money. We have a lot of respect for the work we’re entrusted with, the people we're doing it for, and the duty of historical preservation that entails.”
Owner Zachary Goldberg proudly standing watch over his operation.
IN THE END, WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO PRESERVE HISTORY?
“If you don't learn important lessons from history, you'll fail to realize how to grow. You'll keep making mistakes and take life for granted.”
“A lot of people actively digitize media or restore photos because of a fear of loss - but the process should never be challenging, confusing, or a pain. Working with Forever Studios should be a fun and positive experience, and your project's final results are worth looking forward to.”
